Declaration of Intent
MEETING OF THE ACADEMIES OF SCIENCE OF LATIN AMERICA AND
THE CARIBBEAN REGION
MEXICO CITY, AUGUST 15-16, 2003
DECLARATION OF INTENT
The undersigned, members of the Executive Boards of Academies of Science of Latin America and the Caribbean Region, in the spirit of the InterAcademy Panel (IAP), express their intention to create an Interamerican Network of Academies of Science , IANAS, together with the Science Academies of the United States and Canada, whose Presidents expressed the same intention, with the aim of promoting and reinforcing the activities of our associations, strengthening science and technology relationships among our countries and influencing the scientific decision making processes in the hemisphere.
IANAS will closely collaborate with national, regional and multilateral organizations, particularly with the Organization of American Sates, OAS.
