Second Meeting of the Council of the Science Education Programme
September 2005, Edmonton

The second IANAS Science Education Focal Point Meeting was held in Edmonton, Canada, on 26 and 27 of September. Hosted by the University of Alberta, the meeting represented a good opportunity for the representatives from the different countries to report the national efforts that are being developed to improve science education of children and young students through the inquiry-based methodology. The meeting also appraised the different activities that have been organized by the programme, appreciated the project that was submitted for funding at the OAS and discussed future initiatives.

Workshop on Strategic Planning for the Initiation of Inquiry-Based Science Education Projects
October 2004, Santiago

In the period of October 25-29 of 2004, following the invitation of the Chilean Academy of Sciences, representatives from 9 different countries (Argentina; Bolivia; Brazil; Canada; Chile; Colombia; Mexico; USA; and Venezuela) assembled to train teams and discuss the major questions regarding the initiation of inquiry-based science education projects.

Meeting of the Council of the Science Education Programme
October 2004, Santiago

The first meeting of the focal point persons (Council) of the IANAS Science Education Programme was held in Santiago, on October 29-30 of 2004. During two days, the national representatives indicated by the member Academies met to discuss the interest and initiatives of each Academy in the field of Science Education, the initial steps of the programme, as well as future actions.
