The First Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities on Science and Technology Within the Framework of the Inter-American Council for Integrated Development took place in Lima, on November 10-11 of 2004. IANAS was present at this meeting, as one of the eight Civil Society Organizations invited to attend this forum.

Both IANAS' co-chairs, Hernan Chaimovich and Howard Alper, were present at the meeting. The presentation of the network and its programmes was delivered by Howard Alper. Such was the impact of IANAS on the meeting that essentially all country representatives at the forum commented Prof. Alper's words, during the ensuing dialogue.
