Ramón Pichs-Madruga (Cienfuegos, CUBA, 7 December 1962). Bachellor on Economics, University of Havana, 1985; Master of Social Sciences, University of Lund, Sweden, 1991; PhD on Economics, UNAM-Mexico, 1998. Researcher - Centre for World Economy Studies (CIEM), Havana, since 1986; Director of CIEM (since 2013). Senior Professor, University of Havana, since 2004. Five books and numerous articles on environment and development. Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences for 2012-2018. Member of Bureau of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), since 1997. Co-Chair of IPCC-WG III in 2008-2013. Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, 2007-2013. Academic collaboration with UNEP, since 2000, and the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (IPBES), since 2014. Awarded with Orden “Carlos J. Finlay”, by Council of State of the Republic of Cuba.
