Bachelor of Science from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador, Master in Biotechnology from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England, doctor in Plant Pathology from the University of Minnesota, USA. Worked for several years at the International Potato Center in Ecuador characterizing Ecuadorian populations of diseases on potato and wild relatives. During her doctorate in Minnesota and her post-doctorate at the United Sates Department of Agriculture she studied world populations of wheat diseases. Currently she is a professor -researcher at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador, and curator of the QCAM Fungarium, and represents the Ecuadorian Academy of Sciences.
